TWINBASIN project newsletter informs you about programs, results and
events in the twinnings between river basin organisations, in the field

1. WHAT IS NEW
?

You can present your twinning proposal at
any moment
New rules have been established in order to ease the coming of new proposals.
From now on, requests will be accepted and considered on a continuous
way

2. TWINBASIN PROGRESS

- 1st and 2nd Call for proposals
More than 30 missions supported by Twinbasin
have been realised in 2005/2006.
- 14 on-going twinnings (more than 50 missions are being realised).
During 4th World Water Forum in Mexico, 8 new twinnings have been selected
in line with Project Guidelines and recommendations.
In these twinnings, for the first time was accepted a twinning with 3
basins organisations (Kenya – United Kingdom – Poland)
From geopolitical point of view, this 3rd Call For Proposals also carried
out interesting elements as projects between: Israel – Palestine,
United Kingdom – Pakistan, Kenya-Uganda etc …
TwinBasin is now supporting 22 twinnings projects.

3. 4th WORLD WATER FORUM, MARCH 16-22, 2006
MEXICO CITY
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3rd TwinBasin’s Steering Committee took place on Monday, 20th
March. During this time, the new twinning proposals selected during the
3rd call for proposals were be approved, and some modifications on the
TwinBasin project were accepted.
Two great satisfactions are to be noted for the project within 4th World
Water Forum:
• The fact that a Specific session was led by both Agence de l’Eau
Seine Normandie (France) and Comision Nacional del Agua (Mexico) on the
results of their twinning till now; Jointly with the session, a very successful
Press Conference was hold on this twinning and exemplary cooperation;
• INBO also realised specific Sessions and allowed contributions
from Twinbasin project, especially through the topic “Involvement
of Water Users and Civil Society in Decision Making process”, thanks
to on-the field experiences developed during twinning activities.
